Bobby is a troubled 14-year-old whose life takes an unexpected turn when his mother decides to move to the countryside with him and his little brother, Dennis. In their new home, located on a farm owned by the Dooley family, Dennis claims to have met a fairy, a tiny old woman who appears through the dog door. In addition, Mrs. Dooley tells them the story of a child murdered in the house a long time ago. The move to the countryside, which at first seemed like a nightmare for Bobby, soon becomes an adventure full of mystery and nocturnal discoveries.
Kate Thompson is a British Irish writer best known for children's novels. Most of her children's fiction is fantasy but several of her books also deal with the consequences of genetic engineering.
