On New Year's Eve, Maria hears a confession from her husband that leaves her perplexed. To this is added the appearance of her biological father. However, a young neighbor and the friendship of Perla, a psychoanalyst, help her to embark on a new course. Critics have praised the novel for its feminine subtlety, psychological depth, and the way it combines humor and deep reflections.
