«La Favorita» is the young adult novel by Francine Pascal, published by Molino in paperback (110 pages, in Spanish).
Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield are the best dancers in their ballet class and both want to dance the solo at the next recital. Elizabeth doesn't like competing with her sister, but Jessica has no qualms about saying it: she's convinced she dances better. The problem is their teacher, Madame Andre, who never notices Jessica and always praises Elizabeth.
«La Favorita» is the second installment of the series «Las Gemelas de Sweet Valley» (Sweet Valley Twins, no. 2); the original English title is Teacher's Pet.
The novel is aimed at a young adult audience; the recommended reading age is 14 and up.
Francine Paula Pascal was an American author best known for her Sweet Valley series of young adult novels. Sweet Valley High, the backbone of the collection, was made into a television series, which led to several spin-offs, including The Unicorn Club and Sweet Valley University. Although most of these books were published in the 1980s and 1990s, they remained so popular that several titles were re-released decades later.
