«La figlia del podestà» is the contemporary fiction novel by Andrea Vitali, published by RL Libri in paperback (350 pages, in Italian).
The action takes place in Bellano, on the lakeshore, where the podestà Agostino Meccia pushes an ambitious plan to connect Como, Bellano and Lugano by seaplane. Amid thwarted loves, local jealousies and strokes of luck, the plot portrays with humor an episode of village life in fascist Italy in the early thirties.
It belongs to Andrea Vitali's Bellano saga, set in that town, and was awarded the Premio Bancarella.
A read for those who appreciate Italian fiction set in a provincial milieu with a humorous approach.
