«La Figuière en héritage» is the novel by Françoise Bourdon, published in 2010 by Pocket in paperback format (312 pages, in French).
In 1877, Mélanie, a young woman raised in public care who works as a cardboard maker, discovers the Figuière, a large house overlooking Mont Ventoux that seems to offer her a refuge and a different future. Settling there means marrying Alexis Gauthier, whom she does not love, and leaving her own people behind, but that opportunity cannot be wasted.
«La Figuière en héritage» belongs to the Terroir collection and is set near Mont Ventoux, in the south of France.
It will appeal to those seeking a novel with a French rural setting and a female protagonist determined to change her destiny.
