«La Fondation de Rome» is a school edition with extracts from the historical work by Livy and Christine Garcia, published by Flammarion in paperback format (124 pages, in French).
The book brings together the opening passages of Roman History in which Livy narrates the legend of the founding of Rome and the fate of Romulus, with interventions by heroes and gods. It also includes extracts from Plutarch's Life of Romulus to offer a second portrait of the city's mythical founder.
It is part of Flammarion's Étonnants Classiques collection and corresponds to Book I of the series Ab Urbe Condita. The edition includes a translation by Annette Flobert and contributions by Christine Garcia.
Intended for students of French and readers interested in the founding myths of Rome, with an annotated edition aimed at the school context.

Titus Livius, known in English as Livy, was a Roman historian. He wrote a monumental history of Rome and the Roman people, titled Ab Urbe Condita, ''From the Founding of the City'', covering the period from the earliest legends of Rome before the traditional founding in 753 BC through the reign of Augustus in Livy's own lifetime. He was on good terms with members of the Julio-Claudian dynasty and was a friend of Augustus. Livy encouraged Augustus’s young grandnephew, the future emperor Claudius, to take up the writing of history.
