«La Guerra Civil contada a los jóvenes (edición escolar)» is the illustrated historical essay by Arturo Pérez-Reverte, published by Alfaguara in paperback.
It recounts the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) for young readers with a concise, objective and rigorous approach, free of partisan clichés. It reviews the three years of conflict and its consequences: thousands of deaths, destruction, ruin and exile. It defends historical memory so that such a tragedy is not repeated, with illustrations by Fernando Vicente.
It belongs to the No ficción ilustrados collection and is the fourth edition, published in 2016. The publisher recommends it for readers aged 12 and up.
Recommended for young people approaching the history of Spain for the first time and for working on the Civil War in the classroom.
