«Un día de cólera» is the historical novel by Arturo Pérez-Reverte, published by Círculo de Lectores in hardcover (351 pages, in Spanish).
The novel reconstructs the popular uprising of May 2, 1808, in Madrid against the Napoleonic occupation. Without a single protagonist, it offers a choral vision of the riot, with heroes and cowards, anonymous people and real historical figures. Pérez-Reverte documents authentic places, events and words to bring back to life those who only appeared in archives and engravings.
Published in 2008, it is part of the Biblioteca Arturo Pérez-Reverte collection.
For readers interested in the history of Spain and the Peninsular War.
