The Silent Room is the second part of the Tora trilogy, which began with the acclaimed novel The House with the Blind Glass Eyes. In this installment, we accompany Tora in her adolescence, as she tries to overcome her fears and rebuild her life after the imprisonment of her stepfather, Henrik. However, the threat resurfaces when Henrik is released, plunging Tora and the inhabitants of the island into an atmosphere of tension and secrets. Wassmo transports us to Norway in the fifties and sixties, where feelings are hidden behind a facade of silence and human relationships are marked by the weight of the past.
Herbjørg Wassmo is a Norwegian author.
