«La inmortalidad» is the novel by Milan Kundera, published by Círculo de Lectores in paperback (412 pages, in Spanish).
A novel that combines satire of contemporary society with philosophical reflection: it alternates the present of a culture dominated by image with the adventures of famous aspirants to immortality, such as Goethe and Hemingway. Kundera explores identity, memory and the desire to endure against the fleetingness of time.
Spanish translation by Fernando de Valenzuela; the work was originally published as Nesmrtelnost in 1990.
For readers of literary and philosophical fiction, especially those already familiar with The Unbearable Lightness of Being, by the same author.
Milan Kundera was a Czech and French novelist. Kundera went into exile in France in 1975, acquiring citizenship in 1981. His Czechoslovak citizenship was revoked in 1979, but he was granted Czech citizenship in 2019.
