«La lectora de Jade» is the contemporary novel by Frédérique Deghelt, published by Principal de los Libros in paperback (288 pages, in Spanish).
Jade, a young journalist, takes her grandmother Jeanne to live in Paris to prevent her from being placed in a nursing home. There she discovers that Jeanne has secretly read all her life, because in her day it was not considered proper for women to read. The grandmother will be the first reader of Jade's novel, and between them a dialogue emerges that brings them closer and helps them rediscover love.
Translation from the French by Claudia Casanova Pannon. The novel won the Prix Solidarité in 2010.
An intergenerational story about reading and love, aimed at adult readers and those new to contemporary fiction.
