«La lettrice» (Biografia di una passione) is the essay by Annie François published by Guanda in paperback (176 pages, in Italian).
Annie François recreates with humor the quirks of a self-confessed reader: postures, places, borrowed books that never return, and a passion that invades domestic, romantic and social life. It is a «book about books» that celebrates the tactile and olfactory pleasures of reading and presents the bibliophile as a member of a nearly secret brotherhood.
Published in Italy in September 2000; it belongs to the «Prosa contemporanea» collection by Guanda.
A book intended for readers who enjoy books about books and recognize themselves in the quirks and rituals of the bibliophile.
