«La mandorla» is the erotic novel by Nedjma published by Einaudi in paperback (179 pages, in Italian).
Badra, a young Moroccan woman married at seventeen to a notary who has already repudiated two wives, suffers abuse until she flees to Tangier. There she rediscovers her body and her sexuality: «la mandorla» becomes a symbol of power, identity and female desire. A story that denounces the silence imposed on Arab women.
Subtitled «narrazione intima», it was published in 2006 in Einaudi's Super ET collection. Italian translation by Elda Necchi.
For readers of intimate narrative with a social backdrop and for those seeking testimonies on the condition of Arab women.
