«La mano armada» is the crime novel by Carlos Pérez Merinero, published by Ediciones Júcar in paperback (212 pages, in Spanish).
The narrative follows an anonymous, corrupt policeman through his daily routine in the underworld of Francoist Spain: a murder case linked to smuggling places him under the orders of a parapolice squad. With ferocious humor and explicit violence, the novel paints a bleak moral panorama.
Number 24 in the Etiqueta Negra collection from Ediciones Júcar, published in Barcelona in 1986.
Press reviews quoted on the back cover present it as unsuitable reading for sensitive souls.
