La Maternidad de Elna is a moving account of women rescued from Republican concentration camps in France, close to giving birth. In a maternity ward founded by Swiss teacher Elisabeth Eidenbenz, they found a safe place to give birth and raise their babies. This book tells the heroic story of a woman who saved 597 newborns from an uncertain fate, offering them a dignified start to life amidst adversity.
