«La mirada del observador» is a crime novel by Marc Behm, published by RBA Bolsillo in paperback (176 pages, in Spanish).
A failed and lonely detective follows a serial killer, a black widow who murders her husbands as soon as she gets their money; perhaps she is the daughter he seeks. Maybe to atone for his guilt, he travels across the United States erasing the traces that could incriminate her, in a story spanning three decades and over a hundred murders.
It belongs to number 195 of the Ficción collection. The translation is by Beatriz Pottecher Gamir and the original title, Eye of the Beholder, dates from 1980.
It is a read for fans of mystery, suspense and obsessive plots with ambiguous characters.

Marc Behm was an American novelist, actor, and screenwriter, who lived as an expatriate in France. Behm co-wrote the screenplay for the Beatles' Help! (1965) and conceived the story for the film Charade (1963). His best and most well-known literary work is the crime novel Eye of the Beholder (1980), which was adapted twice for the screen, in 1983 and in 1999.
