«La mujer del juez» is the contemporary fiction novel by Jane Gardam, published by Salamandra in hardcover (256 pages, in Spanish).
The story of Sir Edward Feathers is told from the perspective of his wife Betty. An orphan and survivor of the Shanghai internment camps, Betty studied at Oxford and does not fit the role of a reserved, traditional wife; hence her fascination with Terry Veneering, her husband's rival. The novel paints a marital portrait full of chiaroscuro, irony and revelations.
Part of the Sir Edward Feathers cycle, begun with «El viejo juez» (Salamandra, 2011). Salamandra Narrativa collection; 1st ed., 1st printing; published in Spain on January 24, 2013.
For reading groups and readers of literary fiction who enjoy portraits of couples and historical background.
