«La Novela de Academus» is the philosophical novel by Bernardo Jurado Toro, published by Independently published in paperback (122 pages, in Spanish).
The work recreates the school Plato founded outside the walls of Athens, the Academus, origin of the word «academy», and sets it in dialogue with a contemporary story in which desire, love, money and death steer the characters' course. The concepts of Greek philosophy thus appear integrated into the morality of modern society, with readings valid for any era.
Second edition published on October 10, 2022. Bernardo Jurado Toro was a ship captain in the Venezuelan Navy, professor of oratory, historian, poet, essayist and author of 58 books.
For readers interested in classical philosophy and in fiction that connects Greek thought with today's dilemmas.
