«La papallona» is the first novel by Narcís Oller, published by Edicions 62 in paperback (224 pages, in Catalan).
The novel is a faithful expression of Barcelona's artisan class and Catalan society of its time, described with a naturalist gaze. Its publication in 1882 marked the start of naturalism in Catalonia and gave the author European projection; in 1885 it was translated into French with a prologue by Émile Zola.
It belongs to the Butxaca collection of Edicions 62, within the Biblioteca Selecta as number 27; format 12.5 x 19.5 cm.
Recommended for readers interested in Catalan literature and the origins of European naturalism.

Narcís Oller i de Moragas was a Catalan lawyer and novelist who initially wrote in the traditions of literary realism and naturalism, later adapting his style to the Modernisme movement, the Catalan equivalent of Art Nouveau. Despite his stylistic evolution, he is considered one of the leading Catalan authors of the 19th century.
