«La peau, l'écorce» is the novel by Alexandre Civico, published by Rivages in paperback (102 pages, in French).
A soldier waits in the desert for the assault with his patrol in a nameless war; in another time, a man wakes up joined to his four-year-old daughter by an umbilical cord and wanders through a city adrift. Two parallel realities that converge in a dark fable about the ruin of the world and the asymmetrical love between parents and children.
For readers of speculative fiction looking for dark fables and dreamlike atmospheres.
