«La petite reine de Byzance» is the young-adult adventure novel by J. Esther Singer, published by Plon Jeunesse in paperback (235 pages, in French).
In May 802, Aliaza must return to Baghdad to report on her mission. Charlemagne, unwilling to lose his Saxon chess player, plans to marry her to a fifty-year-old Frankish count, and the young woman sees her hope of finding Arieh, imprisoned in Byzantium, fade. She flees with her eunuch and compromises the alliance between Charlemagne and Harun al-Rashid.
The work is the second installment of the trilogy «L'élue du harem», published in 2007.
Recommended for readers aged 9 to 12 interested in historical adventures, with conspiracies and intrigues at the medieval court.
