«La porta proibita» is the travel and reportage book by Tiziano Terzani, published by TEA in paperback (270 pages, in Italian).
Terzani recounts his four years in China as a correspondent, with his children in a local school and trips off the tourist routes, attentive to the contradictions of socialism from Mao to Deng Xiaoping. In February 1984 he was arrested in Beijing, interrogated and expelled; the book mixes reportage, travel diary and reflection on the country.
The work was originally published in 1984; this TEA edition, in the Saggistica TEA collection, is from 2004.
For readers interested in contemporary China, travel journalism and recent history, as well as in the memoirs of a correspondent.

Tiziano Terzani was an Italian journalist and writer, best known for his extensive knowledge of 20th century East Asia and for being one of the very few western reporters to witness both the fall of Saigon to the hands of the Viet Cong and the fall of Phnom Penh at the hands of the Khmer Rouge in the mid-1970s.
