La Regenta es una novela del escritor español Leopoldo Alas, Clarín, publicada en 1884 y 1885. Es considerada una de las obras más importantes de la literatura española del siglo XIX y una de las cumbres del naturalismo en España. La novela narra la historia de Ana Ozores, una joven mujer casada con un hombre mucho mayor que ella, en la ciudad de Vetusta, una representación ficticia de Oviedo. Ana se siente insatisfecha con su matrimonio y busca llenar el vacío en su vida a través de la religión y el amor, pero se ve envuelta en una serie de relaciones adúlteras que la llevan a la desilusión y la tragedia.

Leopoldo Enrique García-Alas y Ureña, also known as Clarín, was a Spanish realist novelist and journalist born in Zamora. His inflammatory articles, known as paliques (“chitchat”), as well as his advocacy of liberalism and anti-clericalism, made him a formidable and controversial critical voice. He died in Oviedo.
