«La resa del leone» is the novel by Osvaldo Soriano, published by Einaudi in paperback (233 pages, in Italian).
The novel follows Faustino Bertoldi, a rootless Argentine who arrives in Bongwutsi, a small African country. There he crosses paths with an Argentine consul, a revolutionary leader fond of roulette and an Irish terrorist, in an intrigue echoing the Falklands War. Chaplinesque humor, irony and tango melancholy combine.
Work originally published in Spanish as «A sus plantas rendido un león» in 1986. This Italian edition, in Einaudi tascabili (no. 283), includes the translation by V. Martinetto and A. Morino.
For readers of contemporary fiction who enjoy political satire, absurd humor and stories with an international setting.
