«La tienda roja» is the historical novel by Anita Diamant, published by Emece Editores in hardcover (358 pages, in Spanish).
The novel gives voice to Dinah, daughter of Jacob and almost absent from the Bible, and recreates the female universe of the Old Testament: her father's four wives, the knowledge passed down in the red tent, and the clan's journey from Mesopotamia to Canaan and Egypt, with its sexual and religious practices and the place of women in that society.
The original title, The Red Tent, was published in 1997; this Spanish edition, translated by Susana Beatriz Cella, is from 1999.
For readers of historical fiction and stories with female protagonists; also lends itself to book clubs.
Anita Diamant is an American journalist and writer of fiction and non-fiction books.
