«La venjança del bandoler» is the historical novel by Martí Gironell, published by Columna CAT in hardcover (336 pages, in Catalan).
In 1808, the muleteer Josep Pujol de can Boquica leads a guerrilla against the French invasion in Catalonia. Hunger and disillusionment with the patriots turn him into a «caragirat», a renegade or traitor, leader of a band of miquelets; his fame as a bandit creates enemies on both sides until someone hires a mercenary to eliminate him.
Winner of the Premi Néstor Luján de Novel·la Històrica 2008, it is part of the Clàssica collection.
For readers of historical fiction seeking ambiguous characters and military action in Catalonia in 1808.
