"Life is a Dream" is the main work of the philosophical comedies of Calderón de la Barca and the one that has had the greatest impact inside and outside our country. Its title is a metaphor that identifies the values and appearances of human life with a dream because of its brevity and what they have of "illusion" compared to reality. If what we call life is a dream of which only the memory remains and in it we find uncertainty, misery and death, Calderón recommends paying more attention to the true life, the eternal one, which is accessed by following the designs of Providence through divine grace. Hence the invitation to act Christianly and prudently because "doing good is not lost, not even in dreams" and each one is responsible for their behavior.

Dramaturgo español del Siglo de Oro, autor de La vida es sueño, El alcalde de Zalamea y numerosos autos sacramentales.
