La Vieja Sirena II is the second part of the trilogy 'Los Círculos del Tiempo', written by José Luis Sampedro. The novel, set in 3rd century Egypt, tells the story of a woman shrouded in mystery and beauty who travels to Alexandria, where her destiny intersects with Ahram the Navigator and the philosopher Krito. This work is a celebration of life and love, a fantastic tale full of lyricism and sensuality, and a reflection on power and our unstable present.

José Luis Sampedro Sáez was a Spanish economist and writer who advocated an economy "more humane, more caring, able to help develop the dignity of peoples". Academician of the Real Academia Española since 1990, he was the recipient of the Order of Arts and Letters of Spain, the Menéndez Pelayo International Prize (2010) and the Spanish Literature National Prize (2011). He became an inspiration for the anti-austerity movement in Spain.
