«L'agrafe» is the novel by Maryline Desbiolles, published by Sabine Wespieser Éditeur in paperback (145 pages, in French).
Emma Fulconis, from L'Escarène (Nice), has always run through the hills. A dog attacks her and an injury to her fibula —'l'agrafe'— prevents her from running as before. The phrase «my dog doesn't love Arabs» leads her to confront the memory of the Algerian War and latent racism. Her new movement becomes almost a motionless dance.
The novel was published on August 29, 2024.
A work of literary fiction for general audiences, especially for those who appreciate novels with historical and social background.
Maryline Desbiolles is a French writer and winner of the Prix Femina, 1999, for Anchise.
