«L'alquimista» is the young adult fantasy novel by Michael Scott, published by Roca Editorial in hardcover (532 pages, in Catalan).
Sophie and Josh Newman, two young people from San Francisco, take a summer job at a bookstore without imagining that its owners, Nick and Perry Fleming, hide an identity: they are the last guardians of an ancient magical book on which the balance between good and evil depends. When that battle is about to erupt, the future of the world falls on both teenagers.
The novel is the first installment of the series «Els secrets de l'immortal Nicolàs Flamel». It was published in 2007. The translation is by María Ángulo Fernández. It is part of the Roca Juvenil collection.
Aimed at young and young adult readers fond of fantasy and mythology, with teenage protagonists and a plot of magic and adventure.
