«L'amante» is the novel by Abraham B. Yehoshua, published by Einaudi in paperback (428 pages, in Italian).
Adam senses a mystery in his wife and pursues her without catching her; alongside her he pursues an absent lover, a Jewish specter. In the Haifa of the 1973 war, the voices of Dafni and other characters interweave with the Arab world, drawing a family story with secrets and with the impossibility of fully knowing others.
The novel belongs to the Einaudi Tascabili collection, number 299, in an Italian edition of 1995.
For readers of contemporary fiction interested in Israeli literature and in choral stories about identity and conflict.
