«L'ambició d'Aleix» is the novel by Enric Valor, published by Bromera in paperback (280 pages, in Catalan).
Aleix meets Mrs. Pauleta when he is a child; she is a very young woman married to the administrator of the family's lands and at first becomes a second mother to him. Over the years, that affection turns into an uncontrollable passion that defies the conventions of the era. The work stands out for its landscape lyricism: Valencian nature becomes another character and conveys the emotion of rural settings.
This edition is part of the Els Nostres Autors collection, number 80, and includes an introduction by Vicent Simbor.
Recommended for readers interested in Valencian narrative and love stories that explore the transgression of social norms.
Enric Valor i Vives was a Valencian narrator and grammarian who made one of the most important contributions to the re-collection and recovery of Valencian lexicography and its standardization in the Valencian Country, Spain.
