«Lancelot du lac» is the Arthurian fantasy young-adult novel by François Johan, published by Casterman in paperback (144 pages, in French).
Viviane, the Lady of the Lake, instructs young Lancelot in the duties of the perfect knight: to be brave with the weak, loyal and noble with the good, and stern with traitors. Viviane senses that Lancelot will accomplish great deeds, but perhaps she cannot imagine the strength of the love that will bind him to Queen Guinevere.
It is the second installment of the series «Les chevaliers de la Table ronde»; this French edition includes illustrations by Nathaële Vogel. The work was originally published in 1988.
Aimed at readers aged 9 to 12 interested in Arthurian legends, chivalry and medieval fantasy.
