«Land-rover» is the novel by Suso de Toro, published by Edicións Xerais de Galicia in paperback (149 pages).
The novel follows Abelardo and Sindo, two brothers who left the countryside and now survive on the margins of the city; an unknown hand, which knows the fair price of death, directs their fate. Wives, lovers and prostitutes, with an authoritarian and mythic-air mother, sustain this urban tragedy with roots in the past.
Published in 1988, it was a finalist for the 1987 Xerais Prize.
For readers of contemporary fiction interested in marginal characters and urban settings.
