«L'Art d'aimer» is Ovid's didactic poem, published by Le Livre de Poche in paperback (160 pages, in French).
Written in Rome at the beginning of our era, the poem imparts with irony and audacity lessons in seduction: how to win and keep love. Nourished by mythological examples and practical advice, it caused an enormous stir and would ultimately cost its author exile. Over time it became a classic of erotic literature.
Edition translated, presented and annotated by Sylvie Laigneau-Fontaine, published in 2020 in the Classiques collection of the Le Livre de Poche imprint. The original text was written in Latin.
Aimed at readers of classical literature and lovers of love poetry, interested in a Roman work written with humor and panache.
