«Las castañeras picadas y otros sainetes» is a collection of sainetes by Ramón de la Cruz, published by Montena in paperback (126 pages, in Spanish).
Selection of three sainetes by Spanish playwright Ramón de la Cruz: «El petimetre», «La Plaza Mayor» and «Las castañeras picadas». These sainetes are short pieces of 18th-century theatre that ironically portray the types and customs of Madrid at the time: vain petimetres, strolls in the Plaza Mayor and chestnut-seller stalls.
Volume number 13 of the collection El Carnaval de las Letras, published in 1989; the selection and prologue are by Carmen Bravo-Villasante.
Ramón de la Cruz was a Spanish neoclassical dramatist.
