«Las damas del fin del mundo» is the historical novel by Ángeles de Irisarri, published by Círculo de Lectores in hardcover (303 pages, in Spanish).
Doña Uzea lives secluded in a castle by the sea, far from dealings with men, but a celestial event brings unusual guests to her door, such as a Viking with a broken heart; she attends to them with humor and cordiality. The novel vindicates feminine wisdom and the stories that still speak of us a thousand years later.
The work belongs to twentieth-century Spanish narrative; the 1999 edition includes a prologue by Rosa Regàs.
For readers of historical fiction and Spanish narrative who appreciate strong female protagonists and humor as a narrative thread.
