«Las torres del olvido» is the science fiction novel by George Turner, published by Bolsillo Antiguo in paperback (490 pages, in Spanish).
In a future world, the ruins of towers near Melbourne are the last trace of the civilization destroyed in the mid-21st century. A theater man tries to reconstruct the life of those years and discovers a world marked by climate crisis, overpopulation and scarcity. The plot also follows Francis Conway, a child who in 2041 tries to escape an unstoppable disaster.
The novel was originally published in English as The Sea and Summer; the Spanish translation is by Jordi Gubern Ribalta. It received the Arthur C. Clarke Award in 1988.
For readers of dystopian science fiction, climate fiction and near-future stories with social criticism, in the vein of George Orwell.

George Reginald Turner was an Australian writer and critic, best known for the science fiction novels written in the later part of his career. His first science fiction story and novel appeared in 1978, when he was in his early sixties. By this point, however, he had already achieved success as a mainstream novelist, including a Miles Franklin Award, and as a literary critic.
