Synopsis of L'auca del senyor Esteve
L'auca del senyor Esteve es una obra modernista que refleja los valores de la sociedad de la época. El eje temático es el enfrentamiento entre el artista y la sociedad, problemática que vivió el autor. La novela permite a Rusiñol exponer y defender la nueva orientación y concepción de las relaciones artista-sociedad que surgió durante el modernismo. Los veintisiete capítulos de la novela se estructuran en tres partes: la primera describe el nacimiento, la infancia, el aprendizaje y el casamiento de Estevet en el marco de la fundación y engrandecimiento del negocio; la segunda nos presenta a Esteve como modelo de botiguer y es en este ambiente de prosperidad que estalla el conflicto con Ramonet, el hijo que quiere ser artista y no quiere heredar el negocio; la tercera parte es la reconciliación entre el artista y la clase social a la que pertenece.
