«Le bel oiseau» is the children's picture book by Jean-Pierre Idatte, published by Les Trois Chardons in paperback (36 pages, in French).
Petit-Louis has a bird that is actually a simple puppet, though for him it is the real Bel Oiseau. He wants it to fly like a real bird and, to achieve this, he keeps perfecting his puppet, making it bigger and more beautiful each time. The question running through the story is whether Bel Oiseau will ever take flight.
Published in 2002, this children's picture book is illustrated by Michel Trublin and includes an audio CD.
Aimed at children aged 0 to 5, it is suitable for reading aloud or listening to the CD.
