«Le Cavalier de Bagdad» is the young-adult novel by Odile Weulersse, published by Le Livre de Poche Jeunesse in paperback (254 pages, in French).
In the Baghdad of The Thousand and One Nights, Tahir dreams of glory and Daoul is madly in love; one pursues a stolen ruby and the other, a woman with a golden voice. A stranger with a steely gaze stalks them through streets and palaces, and destiny, fortune or the executioner may await the poet and the knight in a cruel and generous world.
The work was originally published in 1988; this paperback edition is from 1997. It is part of the Le Livre de Poche Jeunesse collection (number 262).
Aimed at young readers aged 9 to 12, though its setting may also appeal to adults.
