«Gauvain et les chemins d'Avalon» is the fifth volume of the «Le Cycle du Graal» series by Jean Markale, published by Pygmalion in paperback.
Gauvain, nephew and heir of King Arthur, is one of the Knights of the Round Table: brave, courteous and a defender of widows and maidens, though his quest for the ideal woman makes him seem fickle. Secretly guided by Merlin, he heads to the Grail castle, but cannot distinguish the light of the sacred cup and ends up lost in Avalon.
Fifth volume of the «Le Cycle du Graal» series (fifth era), 320 pages. Jean Markale proposes a chronological reconstruction of the Grail myth.
For readers of Celtic mythology and Arthurian legends interested in the figure of Gauvain and the quest for the Grail.

Jean Markale was the pen name of Jean Bertrand, a French historian, writer, poet, radio show host, lecturer and high school French teacher who lived in Brittany.
