«Le fils du pauvre» is the autobiographical novel by Algerian writer Mouloud Feraoun, published by Seuil in paperback (125 pages, in French).
Set in a Kabyle village at the beginning of the 20th century, it tells the childhood of a boy from the Menrad family in a poor home that is barely perceived as such because that is the common condition of the village. Feraoun draws on his own story: the boy seemed destined to be a shepherd, but fate had another path in store for him.
This Seuil paperback edition, published in 1982, belongs to the Points collection (no. R69) and is in French.
For readers interested in Maghrebi and Francophone literature, and in North African autobiographical classics.
