«Le garçon scarabée» is an illustrated children's book by Lawrence David and Delphine Durand, published by Gallimard in paperback (32 pages, in French).
Gregory Sampson wakes up turned into a huge beetle and, to his surprise, almost no one notices: not his parents, not his sister, not his schoolmates. Only his best friend, Michael, sees the change and wants to help him get his life back. An illustrated story about the desire for love and recognition, inspired by Kafka's Metamorphosis.
Originally published as Beetle Boy, the French edition appeared in 1999, with text by Lawrence David and illustrations by Delphine Durand.
Recommended for children aged 3 to 5, especially for those starting to read.
David Lawrence was an American conservative newspaperman.
