In 'The Game of Love and Chance', Silvia devises a plan to ensure the sincere love of her fiancé Dorante. She exchanges places with her servant Lisette to observe Dorante without revealing her true identity. Unbeknownst to Silvia, Dorante has the same idea and presents himself disguised as a servant. This work by Marivaux explores the complexities of love and desire, where the characters face false identities and hidden truths, discovering that in love, sometimes, there is more to gain than to lose.
Pierre Carlet de Chamblain de Marivaux, commonly referred to as Marivaux, was a French playwright and novelist.
