A Venetian tale in which an elderly instrument maker tries to capture in a cello the harmony of nature: the strength of the tree from which the wood comes and the song of the birds that lived in its branches. Frédéric Clément's illustrations recreate eighteenth-century Venice with masks, canals and musicians.
Originally published in 1988 in the Pastel collection of L'École des Loisirs.
Suitable for children and young readers, as well as for lovers of illustrated albums, music and Venetian settings.
