«Le sabre de mon père» is Yvan Audouard's autobiographical account, published by R. Laffont in paperback (175 pages, in French).
The author recalls his childhood in the popular Marseille neighborhood of Saint-Mauront in 1917. Under the care of his mother Baptistine and his aunt Joséphine, the child observes from the window a city marked by war; his father, posted to the colonial army, is absent, and the saber hanging on the wall becomes his link to him.
The subtitle of the work is «Récit». The R. Laffont edition is from 1999 and Yvan Audouard was born in 1914.
