«Le scarabée d'or, suivi de La lettre volée» is the collection of tales by Edgar Allan Poe published by J'ai Lu in paperback (98 pages, in French).
In «The Gold-Bug», Legrand, exiled on Sullivan's Island, comes across a golden beetle that leads him to a treasure of Captain Kidd; the key is a cryptogram. In «The Purloined Letter», a minister hides a compromising letter and the prefect fails: the solution is in plain sight.
The 1998 edition is part of the Librio collection and includes the complete text of both tales.
For readers of mystery classics and detective stories who want to read Poe in French.
