Léon and Louise meet as young people in a French village at the end of the First World War and are soon separated by chance. Over more than forty years, their lives cross again while the novel reconstructs the secret life of the narrator's grandfather: a love that neither time nor history can erase.
The work was originally published in German as «Léon und Louise» (2011), translated into French by Emanuel Güntzburger; it was shortlisted for the Deutscher Buchpreis 2011.
For readers with a command of French who enjoy historical and romantic novels set in Europe during the world wars.
