«Les amoureux de Léningrad» is the crime novel by Charles Exbrayat, published by Editions du Masque in paperback (185 pages, in French).
The novel combines crime and sentiment; in it, love, despite its strength, is not enough to keep the characters from a tragic fate. Trust and hope are cut short by inevitable mechanisms that evoke the classical fatum, in an atmosphere with Russian echoes and elements of noir fiction.
This edition dates from 1976 and is part of the Le Club des Masques collection, number 157.
Recommended for those who enjoy sentimental narrative with noir overtones and tragic endings.
Charles Exbrayat was a French fiction writer. He published over 100 novels and short stories, most of them humorous thrillers. They were very popular and a considerable number were turned into films.
